Wow jacj961 lets just campair a $47,000(gt500) dollar car to a $30,000(camaro ss).......Your right, that does sound fair.........
bottom line, NOBODY says 'one is fantastic and far and away better than the others'. folks, it's what THEIR DRIVERS THINK. nothing more and nothing less. one guy said that his 'heart was with the challenger'. so be it. hell, all three are great looking and can go from 0-60 without embarrass
ing you. be happy with that.
in their sept issue, they even said that if you were to compare engine sizes alone, why not compare the 4.0L chrysler town and country with the 4.0L bmw? PRICE RANGES are the comparison, because anyone who is looking at a $30,000 camaro likely doesnt have , or want to come up with, an additional
$20,000 for MARGINAL speed performance. the 6.1 and chevy ss BOTH go 0-60 in 4.6 seconds.
unless your car takes 15 seconds to get onto the expressway, to most folks it won't matter how fast your car goes 0-60.
the 6.1 with all the bells and whistles is just short of 50K. the camaro ss, all bells and whistles, is 34K. that's a significant enough that for the same or marginally different 0-60, the camaro ss 'beats' the other two. in the end, its simply what ANY ONE PERSON prefers, and you 'can't go
wrong'.
they took a lot of heat (where the reprinted many complaints to the editor) from folks who agree with you. however, they stuck by it. in the end, why do you care? if you think the 6.1 should be considered, and you're buying, then by all means, buy the 6.1. in the end, the marginal differences
in speed are meaningless in the real world.
