Once again, another ... ( 1 year ago by justrockin05)
Once again, another bad driver in a badass mustang. Everyone knows the Roush should have won but the driver sucks. I know my '05 Saleen S281SC would destroy that heavily modded LS1.

HEAVY!!!???? Check out the weight on the new Camaro...........now thats fucking heavy. If the LS1's were so badass, why were the sales bullshit and Camaro took time off until now?

most people who buy cars aren't car enthusiasts. in case you didnt remember that. if people bought cars for performance the 78 king cobra stang with 105hp (one more than the same year honda accord)probably would've killed off the nameplate.

I'm not a big fan of either car.. but it's pretty common knowledge that LS1-powered Camaros and Firebirds can run 12.9-13.1 with a good set of tires and a decent driver. There's a guy at my local drag strip with a 2001 6-speed Z28 that runs a 12.9 on drag radials with just a ram-air intake. The Roush 427R generally runs a 13.1-13.2. It's a driver's race, but the LS1 cars are becoming legendary. The fact that the mustang needs a blower to run even with it says enough.
Well, you can't ... ( 1 year ago by justrockin05)
Well, you can't really see the outcome of this race for one. The fact that ford uses blowers on there 4.6L is because its much more efficient that throwing a 5.7L or 6.0L in a car and risk blowing your motor. Everyone I know with a Camaro or Firebird has rebuilt their engines already. That car was heavily modded and lighter, throw $50-$75 into that Roush for a new pulley and it would have the win. Also, the Roush looks better and is a lot more rare.
Are you trying to ... ( 1 year ago by hartsickdisciple)
Are you trying to say that forced induction is easier on the engine than going N/A? That's what it sounds like. Once again.. I'm not a big fan of either car, but there's a reason why most serious drag racers use small-block Chevys and not Ford motors. I know a couple of guys with mustangs that swapped chevy engines into them. You'll never win a Ford over Chevy argument on the basis of reliability.
Forced induction ... ( 1 year ago by justrockin05)
Forced induction done right, yes. I know alot of people go overboard and put tiny pulleys on, but if done right, I think its far superior. I drive a 2005 Saleen S281SC and my father-in-law has a 2007 427R and we both love my car more. I love American muscle, but I am not a fan of LS1's. Too many problems such as; piston problems, burning oil, and cracked blocks. Sales were poor for a reason. People may swap to Chevy motors, but not the LS1, they use older small blocks, which are far different.
I'm a fan of forced ... ( 1 year ago by hartsickdisciple)
I'm a fan of forced in induction too, my last car was turbocharged. But I would never go so far as to say that forced-induction done right is more reliable than a good N/A motor. It's more exciting, yes. You may have seen alot of issues with LS1's, but they are extremely well-regarded by most. Most of the best racers at the 2 drag strips that I frequent the most use LS1 and LS3 motors in their newer cars. Of course you seen a ton of the older small-blocks too.
Yeah, I guess I was ... ( 1 year ago by justrockin05)
Yeah, I guess I was just saying I would take a blown mustang over a LS1 motor. Not a fan of the LS1. My Saleen produces tons of power at 6-7 psi of boost. Not overdone. I am 27 and this is my fourth one and the only problem I have ever had with any of them was the convertible top on my '98. No engine problems at all, and I drive the hell out of my cars. I do think Chevy has hit it on the head with their new motors. I hate that all new muscle cars weigh way too much, especially the Challenger.

It's a pretty common knowledge that 5.7 minus 4.6 = 1.1 which is what forced induction makes up for. It's funny to see chevy boys brag about Cobras and such needing a blower, while they always seem to forget about displacement for some reason. It's like you saying that a 2.0 liter Evolution needs a turbo just to keep up with a WS6... well DUH buddy
your firebird ... ( 9 months ago by daniel60)
your firebird against a driver who drove a bad race. the new camaros' have a push rod motor like damn that is so old. So what if the mustang has a supercharger it still runs like a mother and gets good gas mileage on top of that. While your old heap leaks oil in the drive way.
I hope your not ... ( 9 months ago by sweet86ss)
I hope your not directing this towards me. Never once did I bash the driver or car...simply posted my the race with its specs. Just because its old technology doesnt mean its bad. They make great power and have good fuel economy as well.

yes true but in the real factor is HP, you could have a 2.0 that is N/A and beats a 4.6 in a race cause it has more HP, so thats all that matters! it not the size it's how you use it!
427r good gas ... ( 9 months ago by 98montecarloz34)
427r good gas milage! lol try again, a 6-speed ls1 gets 28+ MPG lets see a 427r mustang get that!

the roush driver is the pits ! have seen the old 5.0 carbed , stock when they were new run 13.8 with a good driver ! I had a 90 mk 7 lincoln ; cold air package , electric fan , power pullies , no cats , bone stock internally , stock aod trans , stock 3.55 gear ran 14.0 `s with all that weight ! i have built & drove my cars &OTHERS FOR 40 YEARS !

dohc engines arent any newer then pushrod engines. they've been around for nearly 40 years now. pushrod motor's are alot more simpler then ohc. thus cheaper to mantain. im glad GM still uses pushrod engines. hell the fastest car in the world the ssc ultimate aero uses a PR motor.
i think a ... ( 6 months ago by GroundZ28ero)
i think a supercharger makes up for alot more then 1.1 liter. i mean the cobra 4.6dohc S/C makes what 375hp. if you put the same S/C on a 5.7ls1 running 7psi you would be making near 475hp.
